APRIL 2016 FEATURED BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES ACROSS SOUTHWEST LOWER
MICHIGAN FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE AUGUST 2015. PRECIPITATION WAS
VARIABLE... BUT AVERAGED NEAR NORMAL ACROSS THE AREA. SNOWFALL WAS
ABOVE NORMAL.

THE FIRST HALF OF APRIL WAS LARGELY COOLER THAN NORMAL ACROSS
SOUTHWEST LOWER MICHIGAN... WITH HIGHS JUST IN THE 30S AND 40S FOR
SEVERAL DAYS. THE WEATHER PATTERN THEN FLIPPED AND PRODUCED WELL
ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES FOR A WEEK BETWEEN APRIL 15-21. AFTER A
FEW 70 DEGREE DAYS... MOST LOCATIONS HIT 80 DEGREES ON APRIL 18.
HOWEVER... APRIL 2016 ENDED RATHER GLOOMILY WITH COOL AND DAMP
CONDITIONS.

WITH MUCH COOLER THAN NORMAL TEMPERATURES IN PLACE DURING THE FIRST
HALF OF APRIL... SOUTHWEST LOWER MICHIGAN RECEIVED BOUTS OF SNOW
MIXED WITH RAIN...SLEET... AND FREEZING RAIN AT TIMES. CENTRAL AND
NORTHERN LOWER MICHIGAN SAW THE HEAVIEST SNOW... BUT MOST LOCATIONS
RECEIVED ACCUMULATING SNOW ON APRIL 2 AND AGAIN APRIL 8-10. GRAND
RAPIDS AND LANSING RECEIVED 4-6 INCHES OF SNOW ON APRIL 8.

THE LAST WEEK OF APRIL FEATURED 1 OR 2 SUNNY DAYS... BUT OTHERWISE A
FAIR AMOUNT OF CLOUD COVER. SEVERE WEATHER STRUCK SOUTHWEST LOWER
MICHIGAN ON APRIL 25. THE STORMS BROUGHT FREQUENT LIGHTNING... LARGE
HAIL... MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN... AND GUSTY WINDS. THE MONTH ENDED
WITH COOLER TEMPERATURES AND SOME STEADY RAIN ON APRIL 28 AND APRIL
