NEW PRECIPITATION RECORDS WERE SET IN CENTRAL MONTANA DURING AUGUST
AS A SERIES OF SLOW MOVING UPPER LEVEL LOWS DREW MOISTURE INTO THE
REGION FROM THE SOUTH AND SOUTHWEST. MONTHLY HIGH TEMPERATURES WERE
SLIGHTLY COOLER THAN AVERAGE WHILE MINIMUM TEMPERATURES WERE JUST
ABOVE AVERAGE. THE MOST SIGNIFICANT RAIN EVENT OF THE MONTH OCCURRED
FROM THE 22ND TO THE 25TH WHEN A CUT-OFF LOW BECAME NEARLY
STATIONARY OVER SOUTHERN IDAHO BEFORE DRIFTING THROUGH SOUTHEAST
MONTANA. THE MONTHLY TOTAL OF 2.66 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION
REPRESENTS THE 10TH WETTEST AUGUST OF RECORD AT HAVRE.
