...Data for North Little Rock for October 2017...

.Summary...
October 2017 was definitely an interesting month at North Little
Rock. On the whole, the month was above average in terms of
temperatures, but it ended up being cooler than the last few
Octobers.

Daily readings ranged from around five to 15 degrees above average
during much of the first half of the month, with temperatures really
crashing the final week, ranging from around five to near 20 degrees
below average.

There were 90-degree high temperatures during the first and second
weeks of the month. By the fourth week, we were seeing near-freezing
temperatures.

Rainfall was significantly below average this month, making it one
of the driest Octobers since records began.

For the first time in 24 years, snowfall occurred in October.

.Monthly Temperatures...
The average high temperature was the coolest since 2015, but still
the 7th warmest on record. The average low temperature was the
coolest since 2012. The average monthly temperature was the coolest
since 2013.

.Daily Temperatures...
Daily temperatures were above average on 18 days, below average on
ten days and average on three days.

temperature on record in the month of October at North Little Rock,
most recently tying October 12, 2015.

The low temperature of 71 degrees marked the 3rd warmest low
temperature on record in the month of October at North Little Rock,
most recently tying October 7, 2007.

The daily average temperature of 81.0 marked the warmest daily
average temperature at North Little Rock in the month of October
since 1986, and tied October 3, 1986 for the warmest on record.

On the 14th...

The high temperature of 90 degrees marked the 4th warmest
temperature on record in the month of October at North Little Rock,
most recently tying October 9, 2010.

On the 28th...

The high temperature of 50 degrees ended up tying October 31 for the
6th coldest high temperature on record during the month of October.

The low temperature of 34 degrees marked the 6th coldest low
temperature on record in the month of October, and the coldest
October reading since Halloween of 1993.

The daily average temperature of 42.0 marked the 5th coldest daily
average temperature on record in the month of October.

On the 31st...

The high temperature of 50 degrees marked the 6th coldest high
temperature on record in the month of October at North Little Rock.

.Monthly Rainfall...
Rainfall was significantly below average for the second month in a
row. It was the driest October since 2010, and the 7th driest
October on record.

.Daily Rainfall Records Tied or Broken During the Month...
None.

.Monthly Snowfall...
For the first time since 1993, snowfall occurred during the month of
October in the form of brief, light sleet.

The sleet fell on the evening of the 27th, and this marked the
earliest snowfall ever recorded at North Little Rock, beating the
previous record of October 29, 1993. Since precipitation records
began in 1975, this is only one of three days of recorded snowfall
during the month of October.

Even though the snowfall was not measurable, this technically counts
as the 2nd snowiest October on record. October 1993 is still the
snowiest October on record, even though only 0.2 inches of snow
fell.
