ON AVERAGE...THE MONTH OF AUGUST 2014 WAS WARMER AND DRIER THAN EXPECTED WITH
BOTH HIGH AND LOW TEMPERATURES AVERAGING 2.5 DEGREES WARMER THAN NORMAL.
ADDITIONALLY...11 DAYS WERE OBSERVED WITH MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES GREATER THAN OR
EQUAL TO 70 DEGREES...NEARLY TWICE THE NORMAL...HOWEVER THERE WERE NO DAYS
OBSERVED WITH A MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE EQUAL TO OR GREATER THAN 80 DEGREES. THE
HIGHEST TEMPERATURE RECORDED DURING THE MONTH WAS 78 DEGREES ON THE 10TH. 1.74
INCHES OF PRECIPITATION WAS RECORDED DURING THE MONTH...OR ABOUT 62 PERCENT OF
THE NORMAL AMOUNT FOR AUGUST. THE HIGHEST 24 HOUR PRECIPITATION AMOUNT OCCURRED
ON AUGUST 17TH WHEN THE STATION RECORDED 0.34 INCHES OF RAIN. NO NEW OR TIED
RECORDS WERE OBSERVED DURING THE MONTH. NOTE THAT THE SURFACE OBSERVING SYSTEM
WAS UPGRADED ON AUGUST 20TH...RESULTING IN A LOSS OF THE DATA STORED ON THE
SYSTEM PRIOR TO THE 20TH.
