...A WARMER AND DRIER TREND CONTINUES FOR JULY IN SAINT PAUL...

JULY 2014 FOR ST PAUL WAS SIGNIFICANTLY WARMER AND DRIER THAN NORMAL AS HIGH
PRESSURE DOMINATED THE WESTERN ALEUTIAN ISLANDS AND AN EXTENDED RIDGE OVER THE
PRIBILOF ISLANDS PRODUCED PREDOMINANTLY WESTERLY WINDS PRODUCING TEMPERATURES
WELL ABOVE NORMAL.

MONTHLY TEMPERATURE AVERAGES WERE ALL IN THE TOP TEN ON RECORD  FOR THE MONTH OF
JULY. THE AVERAGE MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE WAS THE SECOND WARMEST THE AVERAGE
MINIMUM TEMPERATURE WAS THE THIRD WARMEST AND THE OVERALL AVERAGE MONTHLY
TEMPERATURE WAS THE SECOND WARMEST ON RECORD. ON AVERAGE THE DAILY TEMPERATURE
WAS THREE DEGREES WARMER THAN NORMAL. ST PAUL TIED THREE RECORD TEMPERATURES...
AND SET FOUR NEW TEMPERATURE RECORDS.

7/5/14- NEW RECORD HIGH MINIMUM OF 47 BREAKING OLD RECORD OF 46 SET IN 2005
7/6/14- NEW RECORD HIGH MINIMUM OF 48 BREAKING OLD RECORD OF 45 SET IN 2003
7/7/14- NEW RECORD HIGH MINIMUM OF 46 BREAKING OLD RECORD OF 48 SET IN 2003
7/9/14- TIED RECORD HIGH MINIMUM OF 56 SET IN 2006
7/13/14- NEW RECORD HIGH  OF 60 BREAKING OD RECORD OF 57 SET IN 2005
7/17/14- TIED RECORD HIGH MINIMUM OF 49 SET IN 2005

PRECIPITATION FOR JULY 2014 WAS  BELOW NORMAL AS WELL WITH TOTAL ACCUMULATION
SLIGHTLY ABOVE HALF  OF THE MONTHLY AVERAGE.  ELEVEN DAYS HAD PRECIPITATION
GREATER THAN 0.01 WITH A MAJORITY OF THE RAINFALL SPREAD BETWEEN SIX DAYS
THROUGHOUT THE MONTH.
