...SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL EXPECTED THIS WEEK...

A LARGE UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL ENTER THE WESTERN U.S.
MONDAY...EVOLVING INTO A STRONG CLOSED LOW OVER NORTHERN MEXICO
BY TUESDAY. MEANWHILE...SURFACE LOW PRESSURE WILL DEVELOP OVER
WESTERN TEXAS RESULTING IN SOUTHERLY WINDS BECOMING ESTABLISHED
ACROSS TEXAS AND LOUISIANA. THESE FEATURES WILL BE VERY SLOW TO
MOVE EAST THIS WEEK...COMBINING TO PRODUCE DEEP SOUTHERLY WINDS
THAT WILL BRING COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF MOISTURE OVER THE REGION.
NUMEROUS DISTURBANCES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SYSTEM WILL TRAVEL OVER
THE AREA...PRODUCING SEVERAL PERIODS OF HEAVY RAINFALL FROM
TUESDAY THROUGH AT LEAST FRIDAY.

THE LATEST FORECASTS INDICATE RAINFALL TOTALS BETWEEN 6 AND 12 INCHES
WILL BE POSSIBLE THROUGH THE PERIOD...WITH LOCALIZED HIGHER
AMOUNTS POSSIBLE AS WELL. DESPITE THE INITIALLY DRY CONDITIONS
ACROSS THE AREA...REPEATED PERIODS OF RAINFALL WILL QUICKLY LEAD
TO SATURATED SOILS AND THE POTENTIAL FOR WIDESPREAD FLOODING
POSSIBLY BY MID-WEEK. A FLOOD WATCH IS EXPECTED TO BE ISSUED BY
MONDAY AFTERNOON.

IN ADDITION TO AREAL FLOODING...SEVERAL RIVER LOCATIONS ARE
EXPECTED TO SEE SIGNIFICANT FLOODING AS WELL. THE NECHES...SABINE
AND CALCASIEU RIVER BASINS COULD POTENTIALLY EXPERIENCE MODERATE
TO MAJOR FLOODING LATE THIS WEEK INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK.

PLEASE CONTINUE TO MONITOR UPDATED FORECASTS AND ADDITIONAL
STATEMENTS AS TIMING AND IMPACTS BECOME FURTHER REFINED OVER THE
NEXT FEW DAYS.
