...A FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 200 AM EDT FOR
ORANGEBURG COUNTY...

AT 945 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR HAD INDICATED
THAT EARLIER HEAVY SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY HAD DECREASED IN
INTENSITY...WITH ONLY LIGHT TO MODERATE RAIN IN PROGRESS.
HOWEVER...RUNOFF FROM PREVIOUS HEAVY RAIN WILL CONTINUE TO PRODUCE
FLOODING OF STREETS AND OTHER LOW LYING AREAS TONIGHT.

REPORTS OF 8 TO 10 INCHES OF RAIN HAVE BEEN RECEIVED IN THE CITY OF
ORANGEBURG...AND BETWEEN ORANGEBURG AND CORDOVA. ELSEWHERE...RADAR
ESTIMATED 3 TO 6 INCHES OF RAIN FELL FROM JUST FROM SOUTH OF
ORANGEBURG...SOUTHWEST ALONG THE NORTH FORK OF THE EDISTO
RIVER...BETWEEN COPE AND ROWESVILLE...TO NEAR THE BAMBERG COUNTY
LINE. MOST OF THIS RAIN FELL IN ABOUT A 3 TO 4 HOUR PERIOD FROM
ABOUT 430 PM TO 800 PM.

NUMEROUS REPORTS OF SIGNIFICANT STREET FLOODING IN THE CITY OF
ORANGEBURG HAVE BEEN RECEIVED. SOME ROADS ARE WASHED OUT AND
IMPASSABLE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF SMALL
CREEKS AND STREAMS...HIGHWAYS AND UNDERPASSES. ADDITIONALLY...COUNTRY
ROADS AND FARMLANDS ALONG THE BANKS OF CREEKS...STREAMS AND OTHER LOW
LYING AREAS ARE SUBJECT TO FLOODING.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODING. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. MOVE
UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS
SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
