Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Northern Alabama

.DISCUSSION...
Drier and cooler air continues to settle across the region today.
Expect this airmass to linger briefly as a broad area of high
pressure slides eastward across the Tennessee Valley and Deep
South tonight into Sunday. Temperatures will recover slightly on
Sunday and winds will generally be lighter underneath the surface
high. The combination of slightly warmer temperatures and very
dry air will result in afternoon relative humidities on Sunday
dipping down to around 25 percent.

Conditions will begin to improve by early in the work week as
return flow brings Gulf moisture to the region and eventually
a fairly high probability of precipitation in the Monday through
Wednesday time frame.

Fog potential over the next few days: the probability of fog
is quite low over the next several days.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: The very dry air and gusty winds
have brought spotty fires to many portions of the southeast today.
The dry air will remain in place through Sunday though winds will
be much lighter. The KBDI values will also remain below critical
thresholds.
