Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Northern Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
218 PM CST Sun Feb 26 2017

.DISCUSSION...

Winds have shifted to the south as surface high pressure moves
east of the region. Moisture will advect northward into the region
ahead of an approaching upper level disturbance. This disturbance
will move through the area during the day Monday, with widespread
showers entering NW AL just after daybreak. These showers will
then spread eastward through the day, reaching NE AL during the
afternoon. Scattered light showers may continue through the
overnight period on Monday, before more numerous showers and isolated
thunderstorms develop early Tuesday morning. This activity will persist
through much of the day, however uncertainty in exact timing and
coverage of any storms is uncertain.

A cold front will then move into the region early Wednesday and bring
a higher chance for showers and thunderstorms. This activity will move
into the area during the mid morning hours on Wednesday and exit
Wednesday evening. Although confidence on exact timing and impacts is
still low, the potential for widespread damaging wind gusts will exist
for much of northern AL. The cold front will exit to our east during
the evening hours on Wednesday, with winds shifting to the north. This
northerly flow will advect drier air into the forecast area, ending the
chance for rain through the remainder of next week. Although drier air
is forecast, RH values are expected to remain above critical thresholds.

Fog potential over the next few days: None.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: No fire weather concerns at this time.
