FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NORTHERN ALABAMA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HUNTSVILLE AL
405 AM CST SAT DEC 3 2016

.DISCUSSION...
HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE OHIO AND TENNESSEE VALLEYS WILL SHIFT
EAST ALLOWING MOIST SOUTHERLY FLOW TO OVERTOP THE COOL AIR
IN PLACE THIS WEEKEND. THIS WILL OCCUR AS A SERIES OF UPPER
LEVEL DISTURBANCES TRACK NORTHEAST THROUGH THE REGION IN ADVANCE
OF A POTENT UPPER LEVEL LOW NOW OVER DROPPING INTO NORTHWEST
MEXICO. TWO PROLONGED RAIN EVENTS WILL OCCUR OVER THE NEXT
FEW DAYS. ONE WILL BEGIN LATER TODAY AND LAST INTO SUNDAY
AFTERNOON. THE NEXT ONE WILL BEGIN MONDAY AND LAST INTO
TUESDAY AS THE UPPER LOW IN MEXICO PULLS TO THE NORTHEAST
THROUGH THE SOUTH AND SOUTHEAST U.S. RAINFALL AMOUNTS OVER
THESE TWO EVENTS WILL TOTAL UP TO BE IN THE 1.75 TO 3 INCH RANGE
OVERALL. A FEW THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE AS WELL,
ESPECIALLY ON SUNDAY AND AGAIN ON MONDAY NIGHT. AS A RESULT
OF THE RAIN AND EXTENSIVE CLOUDINESS, MIXING HEIGHTS WILL REMAIN
RATHER LOW, GENERALLY IN THE 1500-2500 FT AGL RANGE. SMOKE
DISPERSION WILL BE GENERALLY POOR TO FAIR BOTH TODAY AND SUNDAY.
