Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwestern California
National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA
928 AM PDT Sat Aug 19 2017

...Threat of afternoon thunderstorms across local mountains Today
   through Tuesday...

...Potential for brief heavy rainfall with localized flash flooding
across Ventura and Santa Barbara county mountains on this
   afternoon and early evening...

.DISCUSSION...A weak low pressure system spinning off the coast of
Southern California will bring some moisture and increasing instability
across the local mountains during the next few days resulting in
a threat of afternoon thunderstorms. The best moisture and instability
each afternoon and early evening is expected to be focused across
the mountains of Ventura and Santa Barbara mountains where there
will be the greatest thunderstorm threat. There will be the potential
for brief heavy rainfall with localized flash flooding this afternoon
and early evening across the mountains of Ventura and Santa Barbara
counties due to increased available moisture and weak upper level
steering flow, which will result in slow moving storms. In addition,
any thunderstorms that develop during this time will be capable of
producing gusty and erratic downdraft winds along with small hail.

Otherwise pretty quiet pattern next several days with typical
diurnally driven winds. Gradual cooling with increased marine layer
coverage is expected through early next week.
