FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR THE SOUTH PLAINS AREA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LUBBOCK TX
527 AM CDT WED MAY 25 2016

.DISCUSSION...
ALL BUT THE SOUTHWEST TEXAS PANHANDLE AND NORTHWEST SOUTH PLAINS
WERE EXPERIENCING EXCELLENT RH RECOVERY THIS MORNING. HOWEVER THE
DRYLINE WILL PUSH EAST OFF THE CAPROCK THIS AFTERNOON WITH RH
VALUES FALLING INTO THE 5 TO 15 PERCENT RANGE BEHIND THE DRYLINE
AS HOT AND GUSTY SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS OVERSPREAD THE AREA. THE
DRYLINE WILL RETREAT BACK INTO THE WESTERN SOUTH PLAINS LATE
TONIGHT BEFORE SURGING BACK EAST AND OFF THE CAPROCK THURSDAY
AFTERNOON. WINDS WILL BE EVEN STRONGER THURSDAY THAN TODAY.
ALTHOUGH THE COMBINATION OF WINDS AND HUMIDITIES WILL RESULT IN
ELEVATED TO CRITICAL METEOROLOGICAL FIRE WEATHER WEST OF THE
DRYLINE EACH AFTERNOON, THE GREEN FUELS WILL NOT BE RECEPTIVE AND
THE FIRE DANGER WILL REMAIN LOW. ONLY SLIM STORM CHANCES WILL
EXIST IN THE ROLLING PLAINS THURSDAY AFTERNOON/NIGHT.
