FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NW OREGON AND SW WASHINGTON
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORTLAND OR
304 PM PDT MON SEP 29 2014

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...COLD FRONT AT THE COASTLINE WITH LEADING
SHOWERS JUST REACHING THE CASCADE CREST. BRIEF BREAK IN THE SHOWER
ACTIVITY BEHIND THE FRONT WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS CONTINUING
THROUGH TUESDAY UNDER ONSHORE FLOW. HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS HEADING
INTO THE WEEKEND WITH SOMEWHAT WARMER AND DRIER CONDITONS.

.DISCUSSION...FRONT HAS GENERALLY BEHAVED SO FAR THIS AFTERNOON
WITH SPOTTY LOCATIONS GETTING CLOSE OR EXCEEDING A WETTING RAIN.
OTHER AREAS GENERALLY STAYING WELL LESS SO FAR. EXPECT TO SEE A
BRIEF BREAK IN THE ACTION THIS EVENING AS THE FRONTAL LIFT EASES
AND BEFORE THE POST FRONTAL OROGRAPHICS TAKE OVER. SCATTERED
SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE OVERNIGHT AND THROUGH TUESDAY AS ANOTHER
WEAK SYSTEM BRUSHES OFF TO THE NORTHEAST.

MODELS CONTINUE TO SHOW RIDGING PUSHING NORTH FOR THE LATTER HALF
OF THE WEEK BUT CONTINUE TO VARY ON THE SPECIFIC POSTION. THIS
WILL HAVE NOTABLE IMPACTS WITH REGARD TO IF AND HOW FAR A THERMAL
TROUGH WILL DEVELOP AND BE POSITIONED OVER THE FORECAST AREA.
CONFIDENCE IS FAIRLY HIGH ONE WILL DEVELOP AT SOME POINT BY FRIDAY
OR SATURDAY BUT HAVE FAR LESS CONFIDENCE AS TO WHERE AND FOR HOW
LONG. /JBONK
