Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
403 AM EST Fri Feb 24 2017

.DISCUSSION...

Low pressure was over Missouri with a cold front trailing into
the Southern Plains. By Saturday morning this low will be in the
Great Lakes with front extending into western Virginia and into
the Gulf of Mexico. The cold front marches east across our region
Saturday morning into Saturday afternoon and pushes off into the
Atlantic ocean Saturday night. Scattered showers and thunderstorms
are possible ahead and along the front. In the wake of the front,
expected gusty northwest winds and the potential for some upslope
mountain snow showers and snow flurries. High pressure returns
to the area on Sunday. Fire weather concerns begin to
increase somewhat Sunday with RH values in the 25 to 30 percent
range along with breezy to gusty northwest winds.
