...NEW 24-HOUR RAINFALL RECORDS ESTABLISHED IN FRESNO AND MADERA...

ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 17TH, 0.73 INCHES OF RAIN OFFICIALLY FELL AT THE
FRESNO-YOSEMITE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.  THIS BREAKS THE PREVIOUS
RAINFALL RECORD FOR THE DATE OF 0.58 INCHES WHICH LAST OCCURRED IN
1941.

THE RAIN GAGE AT THE MADERA REGIONAL AIRPORT RECORDED 0.63 INCHES OF
RAIN ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 17TH.  THIS BREAKS THE PREVIOUS RAINFALL
RECORD FOR THE DATE OF 0.29 INCHES* WHICH LAST OCCURRED IN 2009.

*PLEASE NOTE:  THE AIRPORT-SPECIFIC STATION FOR MADERA HAS A LIMITED
PERIOD OF RECORD WHICH BEGINS IN 1998.
