DAILY RIVER AND LAKE SUMMARY
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE COLUMBIA SC
1003 AM EDT SAT MAY 23 2015

...All river forecast points expected to remain well below flood stage...

High pressure extending down from the Delmarva region to our northeast
dominates the forecast area today...bringing dry and benign weather.
As the high shifts offshore on Sunday, we will see a return of onshore
flow from the Atlantic. Beginning Monday...the moist east to southeast
flow combined with upper level disturbances riding up the back of the
ridge will produce a slight chance for isolated afternoon showers and
thunderstorms over the Piedmont, Northwest Midlands and extreme
Northern CSRA. This pattern will continue into the middle of next week.
Rainfall amounts will be spotty and limited as any activity will
struggle to break through the cap provided by the ridge of high
pressure extending in from the east. Deeper Gulf of Mexico moisture
will remain well off to the west of our region. Only minor fluctuations
in river levels are expected from dam releases for hydroelectric power
generation.
