...GLACIER-DAMMED LAKE RELEASING INTO VALDEZ GLACIER STREAM...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A RIVER STATEMENT FOR THE
VALDEZ GLACIER STREAM NEAR VALDEZ. NO FLOODING IS EXPECTED AT
THIS TIME.

A GLACIER-DAMMED LAKE ON VALDEZ GLACIER HAS BEGUN TO RELEASE.
WATER LEVELS HAVE RISEN ON VALDEZ GLACIER STREAM AND ARE
THREATENING THE DUMP AND THE ROAD TO THE DUMP. WATER IS ALSO HIGH
IN THE VICINITY OF THE RICHARDSON HIGHWAY BRIDGE.

THIS IS THE SAME GLACIER-DAMMED LAKE THAT RELEASED LAST MONTH. THE
LAKE LEVEL WAS MUCH HIGHER PRIOR TO THE JUNE RELEASE THAN IT WAS
A FEW DAYS AGO SO THE TOTAL VOLUME OF WATER ASSOCIATED WITH THIS
RELEASE IS SIGNIFICANTLY LESS THAN THOSE EXPERIENCED LAST MONTH.

THIS STATEMENT WILL ONLY BE UPDATED IF NECESSARY.
