SATELLITE INTERPRETATION MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TIYAN GU
219 AM CHST SUN JUL 31 2016

WESTERN NORTH PACIFIC BETWEEN THE EQUATOR AND 25N FROM 130E TO 180.

A MONSOON TROUGH RUNS SOUTHEASTWARD FROM NEAR THE NORTHERN
PHILIPPINES THROUGH 13N130E TO END SOUTHEAST OF YAP AT EQ140E.
ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS ARE FOUND NEAR YAP WITHIN 120 MILES OF A
LINE FROM 2N138E TO 11N138E. CONVERGING SURFACE WINDS NORTH OF THE
TROUGH ARE CAUSING SCATTERED SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS
WEST OF A LINE FROM 16N134E TO 20N134E.

A SURFACE TROUGH REACHES NORTHWARD FROM NORTH OF POHNPEI AT
11N159E TO A SUBTROPICAL LOW CENTERED SOUTHEAST OF MINAMI TORI
SHIMA AT 22N158E...THEN TURNS NORTHEASTWARD TO BEYOND 25N AT
170E. AN UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH IN THE VICINITY ALSO EXTENDS
NORTHEASTWARD FROM 21N160E TO BEYOND 25N AT 160E. INTERACTION
BETWEEN THESE FEATURES IS TRIGGERING SCATTERED SHOWERS AND
ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS FROM EAST OF THE MARIANA ISLANDS TO
NORTHEAST OF WAKE ISLAND WITHIN 120 MILES OF A LINE FROM 14N155E
TO 25N177E.

A TRADE-WIND DISTURBANCE IS PRODUCING WIDELY SCATTERED SHOWERS
OVER THE MARSHALL ISLANDS WITHIN 170 MILES OF A LINE FROM 8N163E
TO 11N174E.
