...HARD FREEZE EXPECTED TONIGHT ACROSS NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA...

A HARD FREEZE WILL OCCUR ACROSS NORTH AND MUCH OF CENTRAL GEORGIA
TONIGHT. THIS MEANS TEMPERATURES WILL FALL BELOW 28 DEGREES FOR
SEVERAL HOURS... WITH SOME LOCATIONS POSSIBLY SEEING TEMPERATURES
IN THE TEENS. THIS LONG DURATION OF SUB-FREEZING TEMPERATURES
MEAN THAT PEOPLE... PETS... PIPES AND PLANTS ARE ALL AT RISK.

ALL INTEREST ACROSS NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA ARE ENCOURAGED TO
CHECK ON THE ELDERLY TO ENSURE THEY HAVE A SAFE AND RELIABLE
HEATING SOURCE. BRING PETS INSIDE AND TAKE PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT
LIVESTOCK FROM THE EXTREME COLD.

THE COLD TEMPERATURES COULD ALSO CAUSE OUTDOOR WATER PIPES TO
FREEZE AND POSSIBLY BURST. PIPES SHOULD BE DRAINED... WRAPPED OR
ALLOWED TO DRIP OVERNIGHT. WATER PIPES ASSOCIATED WITH BATHROOMS
OR KITCHENS THAT RUN INSIDE EXTERIOR WALLS OF YOUR HOME CAN ALSO
FREEZE. LEAVE SINK CABINET DOORS OPEN FOR ADDED WARMTH AND
CONSIDER A SLOW DRIP AS WELL.

THE HARD FREEZE WILL KILL CROPS AND SENSITIVE VEGETATION. BRING
TENDER PLANTS INDOORS OR COVER THEM IF POSSIBLE.

THE BITTER COLD TEMPERATURES SHOULD WARM ABOVE FREEZING BETWEEN
10 AM AND 11 AM ON WEDNESDAY.
