...PERIODS OF SNOW EXPECTED TO IMPACT HOLIDAY TRAVEL THROUGH THE
CASCADES AND SISKIYOUS THIS WEEKEND...

A COLD SYSTEM WILL DROP SOUTH FROM BRITISH COLUMBIA SATURDAY INTO
SUNDAY, LIKELY RESULTING IN PERIODS OF MODERATE SNOWFALL OVER THE
CASCADE PASSES. SNOW IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN IN THE VICINITY OF
DIAMOND LAKE BY SATURDAY AFTERNOON, THEN SPREAD SOUTH THROUGH
CRATER LAKE TO THE FAR SOUTHERN OREGON CASCADE PASSES SATURDAY
EVENING. SNOW WILL THEN CONTINUE THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT.

SATURDAY THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT, TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO
10 INCHES ARE FORECAST FOR HIGHWAY 138 NEAR DIAMOND LAKE, AND
HIGHWAY 62 NEAR CRATER LAKE, AND 2 TO 5 INCHES ARE FORECAST FOR
HIGHWAYS 140 AND 66 OVER THE FAR SOUTHERN OREGON CASCADES.
INTERSTATE 5 OVER SISKIYOU SUMMIT COULD SEE A COUPLE INCHES AS
WELL.

CONFIDENCE IN SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS IS MODERATE TO LOW DUE TO
UNCERTAINTY IN THE AMOUNT OF MOISTURE WITH THE SYSTEM AS IT
PUSHES THROUGH THE AREA.

TRAVELERS THROUGH THE CASCADES THIS WEEKEND SHOULD TAKE EXTRA
PRECAUTIONS TO PREPARE FOR WINTRY CONDITIONS AND SNOW COVERED
ROADS. STAY TUNED FOR FORECAST UPDATES, AND CHECK STATE
TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENTS FOR ROAD CONDITIONS PRIOR TO TRAVEL.
