...SNOW IS POSSIBLE WEDNESDAY MORNING IN PORTIONS OF THE INTERIOR
LOWLANDS...

COOL AIR ORIGINATING OVER THE GULF OF ALASKA IS MOVING INTO
WESTERN WASHINGTON...WHILE MOISTURE AT HIGHER LEVELS IS STREAMING
INTO THE AREA FROM A SYSTEM NORTH OF HAWAII. UNLIKE TYPICAL
PACIFIC NORTHWEST SITUATIONS...MODERATE RAIN WILL CONTINUE TO FALL
INTO AN AIR MASS THAT IS COOLING LATE TONIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY
MORNING. WHEN THIS OCCURS...THE SNOW LEVEL CAN BE DRAGGED DOWNWARD
TO NEAR THE SURFACE...EVEN WHEN TEMPERATURES ARE A FEW DEGREES
ABOVE FREEZING. FORECASTING THIS TYPE OF EVENT IS VERY CHALLENGING
AND SMALL ERRORS CAN MAKE BIG DIFFERENCES IN WHETHER OR NOT SNOW
WILL FALL...OR IF IT DOES...HOW MUCH WILL ACCUMULATE.

LATEST HIGH RESOLUTION WEATHER FORECAST MODELS SHOW THE AIR MASS
COOLING SUFFICIENTLY LATE TONIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING FOR
PRECIPITATION TO MIX WITH SNOW ON HIGHER HILLS. IN WHAT APPEARS TO
BE A WORSE CASE SCENARIO...ONE HIGH RESOLUTION MODEL SHOWED SEVERAL
INCHES OF HEAVY WET SNOW ACCUMULATING ON HILLS DURING THE WEDNESDAY
MORNING COMMUTE FROM SNOHOMISH COUNTY SOUTHWARD TO THE SOUTH
INTERIOR VALLEYS AROUND CHEHALIS. AT THIS TIME...ANY SNOW THAT
FALLS IS EXPECTED TO BE LIMITED TO HIGHER HILLS WITH LITTLE TO NO
ACCUMULATION. SOME COMPUTER MODELS SHOW NO SNOW AT ALL IN THE
LOWLANDS WITH TEMPERATURES REMAINING A LITTLE TOO WARM FOR SNOW.

PLEASE MONITOR LATEST FORECASTS FOR UPDATES ON THIS POTENTIAL
WINTER WEATHER SITUATION.
