...PRELIMINARY NWS DAMAGE SURVEYS FOR JUNE 16, 2017 TORNADO EVENTS
UPDATED MONDAY JUNE 19...

.Overview...A damage survey team spent the entire day Saturday and
much of the day on Monday in the Bellevue, Nebraska area and into
adjacent portions of Mills county Iowa. This survey confirms two
tornado tracks through the impacted area, one of which has been
extended into Iowa from the initial survey on Saturday. These
tornado tracks were embedded within broader areas of intense
straight-line wind damage which frequently ranged from 60 to 100 mph
and caused damage in addition to the tornadoes themselves.

The survey team did not have time to visit the Springfield or Plattsmouth
areas, which also received substantial wind damage Friday evening.
Based on a detailed post event radar analysis, the damage in these
areas appears to mostly widespread straight line downburst wind damage
with wind speed estimates of 80 to 100 mph. But again, we did not
have time today to complete a formal damage survey for these areas.
