Area Forecast Discussion

.Discussion...
Latest satellite data shows fair weather clouds moving over the
Islands as a ridge dominates in the area. The upper air sounding
from this afternoon though dry, shows an unstable profile compared
to last night`s run. Current model data shows that as the ridge
moves southeast tonight, winds will also turn southeast and
slightly enhance rain for this time. Expect numerous showers
overnight, and scattered to numerous showers through the rest of
the week. In addition, wind speeds will also increase up to 20 mph
with the aforementioned pattern. Hence, possible showers embedded
within the trade wind flow will remain in the forecast through
Saturday.

Thereafter, a mid-level trough will develop north of the area.
This feature will weaken winds for the region Saturday night, and
hold numerous to scattered showers through the end of the
forecast period.

Wave heights of 5 to 7 feet are currently observed via satellite.
Although wave heights will remain below advisory thresholds
through the forecast period, breezy conditions may produce white
caps Friday through Saturday. This pattern may prompt a small
craft advisory for this timeframe.
