997 FXUS62 KKEY 051950 AFDKEY Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Key West FL 350 PM EDT Sun May 5 2024 ...New DISCUSSION, MARINE, AVIATION... .DISCUSSION... Issued at 227 PM EDT Sun May 5 2024 Once again, day to day weather conditions remain similar. Scattered clouds are transversing the forecast area, and radar shows a cluster of showers to the west and northwest of the Marquesas Keys that simply won`t give up. THese showers will continue to slowly track to the northwest, and any mariners who will cross paths with these showers may temporarily experience reduced visibility as some of these showers have a history of higher reflectivity on radar. This weather will continue through the midweek, so we can essentially copy and paste the forecast each day between now and Wednesday. Chances for rainfall fluctuate between less than 10 percent and up to 10 percent over the first half of the week as well. Things may look a little different as we head into the end of the week. Guidance is suggesting that temperatures from Thursday onward trend warmer and approach the 90 degree mark. Climatologically, some locations along the Keys will see their first 90 degree day between mid May and mid June, so the low chances of seeing this come to fruition at the end of the week is non-zero. However, the chance is still low. Chances for rainfall will also increase at the end of the week, but they`re still relatively low at 20 percent. && .MARINE... Issued at 227 PM EDT Sun May 5 2024 High pressure over the western North Atlantic will continue to encourage moderate to fresh easterly breezes for the next several days. Breezes will turn to the southeast and south over the course of Tuesday and Wednesday as the high pressure flattens. Chances for isolated showers will fluctuate between less than 10 percent and up to 20 percent through the week. && .AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 227 PM EDT Sun May 5 2024 Although a passing shower cannot be ruled out, VFR conditions will prevail at both island terminals through the TAF period. Near- surface winds will remain out of the east to southeast at 10 to 13 knots, with occasional gusts near 20 knots. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
