...River Statement For The Tallapoosa River...
.Heavy rainfall during the past 24 hours is producing rises on the
Tallapoosa River. However, levels are expected to remain below
established flood stages, and any overflow along the river should be
of minor nature.
The Tallapoosa River at Milstead.
* At 8:30 PM CDT Sunday the stage was 26.2 feet.
* Action stage is 15.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 40.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 27.4 feet
just after midnight tonight.
* Impact...At 25.0 feet...Considerable low land flooding occurs.
Livestock should be moved to higher ground.
Another statement will be issued by Monday evening, or sooner if
conditions warrant.
Please stay tuned to NOAA Weather radio or your local media for
later statements concerning this event.
It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has
already occurred and on additional rainfall expected during the next
48 hours. If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may
become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.
