Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central/Southeast Illinois
National Weather Service Lincoln IL
231 PM CDT Tue Apr 16 2024

.DISCUSSION...

South-southeast winds will continue gusting 35 to 45 mph through
the afternoon, with winds generally decreasing but pockets of
localized higher (45+ mph) gusts as showers and storms spread
across the area. Some of these storms may also produce hail to
around an inch in diameter and briefly heavy rain. Behind them,
south winds will ease tonight, but pick up and veer to westerly
tomorrow behind a cold front. This will lead to excellent vent
rates Wednesday, but as mixing heights decrease conditions will be
less conducive to burning Thursday.
