426 FXUS62 KKEY 280237 AFDKEY Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Key West FL 1037 PM EDT Sat Apr 27 2024 ...New DISCUSSION, MARINE, AVIATION... .DISCUSSION... Issued at 1013 PM EDT Sat Apr 27 2024 A sprawling anticyclone centered to the east of the Delmarva stretches southwest to the Yucatan and Mexico. East winds at the Reef are solidly near 25 knots, with occasional gusts in the low 30s. We are likely near the peak in the easterly wind surge, but Advisory conditions are expected to continue into Monday. The last measurable rainfall at Key West International was on April 4th. That streak ended this evening. A linear convergence line has persisted across the Straits for the last several hours. The line of showers briefly waffled to the north and resulted in a few rounds of light to moderate rain for parched areas of Key West. The 00Z KKEY RAOB sampled a marked increase in low-level moisture up through 700 mb, hence the wet stuff noted on the KBYX radar. The line of showers may once again waffle to the north in the next hour, so slight rain chances remain in the forecast. && .MARINE... Issued at 1013 PM EDT Sat Apr 27 2024 Small Craft Advisories remain in effect for all the coastal waters of the Florida Keys. From synopsis, a sprawling high pressure system centered southeast of New England will maintain fresh to strong easterly breezes tonight through Sunday night. As the high presses south into the western North Atlantic, breezes will slacken, although occasionally fresh breezes will continue through the first half of the week. && .AVIATION... (00Z TAFS) Issued at 1013 PM EDT Sat Apr 27 2024 VFR and gusty easterly breezes will prevail at the EYW and MTH terminals overnight. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
