.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1024 PM EDT Tue Apr 23 2024

A very comfortable evening is ongoing across the Florida Keys.
Temperatures are in the mid 70s and dew points have trended
downwards over the course of the last several hours into the mid
60s. This is thanks to a weak late season cold front that moved
through yesterday evening. High pressure spread out across the
Southeast coast has maintained a tightened gradient across the
forecast area this evening. Marine observation sites across the
nearshore waters measuring winds between 15 to 19 knots. A few
showers have waxed and waned across the distant Straits of
Florida, while the rest of the forecast area has remained mostly
rain- free. CIMSS MIMIC TPW highlights much drier air slowly
rounding the aforementioned high, with the leading edge of this
dry airmass beginning to move over the island chain. Dew points
will continue to decrease a degree or two overnight as this
airmass infiltrates even further across the area. The area of high
pressure will begin to elongate overnight, which will cause the
gradient to lessen. Winds will trend downwards through tomorrow
morning. The forecast remains on track and no changes were
necessary.

.MARINE...
Issued at 1024 PM EDT Tue Apr 23 2024

Small Craft Should Exercise Caution headlines are still in effect
for all Florida Keys coastal waters except for Florida Bay and SE
Gulf until winds and seas decrease overnight. From synopsis,
moderate to fresh northeast to east breezes will continue to
slacken to gentle to moderate overnight through Thursday across
the Keys coastal waters as high pressure moves from the
Southeastern states offshore into the western Atlantic. A stronger
high will move into the western North Atlantic late this week and
into the weekend, producing strong easterly breezes across the
Keys waters.
