.New NEAR TERM, SHORT TERM, LONG TERM, MARINE...

NEAR TERM...
(Now through Sunday night)
Issued at 349 PM CDT Fri Apr 12 2024

A dry northwesterly flow pattern aloft will prevail across the
region through the weekend, while surface high pressure builds
eastward across the Gulf Coast. Dry weather is expected to
continue through Sunday night underneath mostly clear skies.
Relatively cool nights and warm days will persist tonight through
Sunday night. A lingering MODERATE risk of rip currents may
continue this evening but should otherwise become LOW along area
beaches this weekend. /21

SHORT AND EXTENDED TERM...
(Monday through Friday)
Issued at 349 PM CDT Fri Apr 12 2024

No significant changes were made to the extended forecast. Upper
level ridging will gradually build over the Gulf Coast states
early next week. Another vigorous upper level storm system is
forecast to lift from the central Plains Tuesday to the vicinity
of the Upper Midwest/Great Lakes by Wednesday. Upper level ridging
will break down across our forecast area late Tuesday into
Wednesday ahead of this feature. Ascent mostly looks to remain
confined to the north of our CWA on Wednesday, although we cannot
entirely rule out a few showers and thunderstorms across interior
portions of southeast MS and southwest AL along the southern
fringe of the lift Wednesday afternoon and evening. Confidence
remained low enough to keep the forecast dry over our area with
this forecast issuance. A general zonal to northwesterly flow
pattern aloft continues into the latter part of the week. Highs
each day generally range in the upper 70s to mid 80s. The coolest
night currently looks to be Monday night when lows range in the
mid to upper 50s inland and in the lower to mid 60s along the
coast. Lows should otherwise mostly range in the 60s each night
next week. /21

MARINE...
Issued at 349 PM CDT Fri Apr 12 2024

Light to occasionally moderate offshore flow tonight becomes
onshore Saturday. This onshore flow will persist into the middle
of next week. Seas continue to relax into the weekend, building
once again early to mid week. /21
