FLOOD STATEMENT

...The flood warning continues for the following rivers in
Illinois and Missouri...

  Mississippi River at...
       Cape Girardeau affecting Alexander...Jackson...Union...
                      Cape Girardeau...Perry and Scott Counties.
       Thebes affecting Alexander and Scott Counties

.The combination of recent heavy rainfall in the Upper Mississippi and
Missouri River basins, as well as the expected rainfall during the next
24 hours is expected to noticebly increase river flows at Cape Girardeau and
Thebes this week. River interests should be aware that any significant change
in the expected rainfall through Tuesday Night may cause corresponding changes
in the stage forecasts at Cape Girardeau and Thebes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

SAFETY MESSAGE...

Never drive cars...trucks or sport utility vehicles through flooded
areas. The water may be too deep to allow safe passage. Never allow
children to play in or near flood waters. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather
Radio or your local media for further statements and possible updated
forecasts.

The Flood Warning continues for
  the Mississippi River at Cape Girardeau.
* from Tuesday evening until further notice.
* At  9:30 AM Monday the stage was 31.4 feet.
* Flood Stage is 32.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by tomorrow late evening and
  continue to rise to near 35.0 feet by Saturday morning. Additional
  rises are possible thereafter.
* Impact...At 36.0 Feet...The flood gate on Themis Street closes.

* from late Thursday night until further notice.
* At  9:30 AM Monday the stage was 30.2 feet.
* Flood Stage is 33.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by early Friday morning and
  continue to rise to near 34.1 feet by Saturday early afternoon.
  Additional rises are possible thereafter.
* Impact...At 34.0 Feet...The town of Thebes begins to flood.
