FLOOD STATEMENT

...The flood warning continues for the following river in Indiana...
Kentucky...Illinois...

  Ohio River at Newburgh Dam...Mount Vernon and Shawneetown

.Previous heavy rainfall has caused river levels to rise along
portions of the lower Ohio River. Minor flooding is expected to
begin over the weekend at Newburgh Dam, Mount Vernon, and
Shawneetown and will continue into next week.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

SAFETY MESSAGE...

Never drive cars...trucks or sport utility vehicles through flooded
areas. The water may be too deep to allow safe passage. Never allow
children to play in or near flood waters. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather
Radio or your local media for further statements and possible updated
forecasts.

The Flood Warning continues for
  the Ohio River at Newburgh Dam.
* from Saturday morning to late Tuesday night.
* At 11:00 AM Friday the stage was 36.3 feet.
* Flood Stage is 38.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by tomorrow morning and continue
  to rise to near 39.2 feet by Sunday evening.
* Impact...At 38.0 Feet...Minor flooding occurs.  The river is 2500
  feet wide and begins covering agricultural land on the Kentucky
  side.

* Flood Stage is 35.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by Sunday morning and continue to
  rise to near 35.1 feet by Tuesday morning.

* from Sunday morning to Thursday afternoon.
* At 10:30 AM Friday the stage was 28.9 feet.
* Flood Stage is 33.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by Sunday morning and continue to
  rise to near 34.7 feet by Tuesday morning.
* Impact...At 33.0 Feet...Minor flooding occurs affecting mainly
  bottomland and surrounding low lying areas.
