...The flood warning is cancelled for the Big Muddy River affecting
   areas in southwest Illinois...

   Near Murphysboro affecting Jackson County

.Water levels are now below the flood stage of 22 feet along the
Big Muddy River near Murphysboro, IL. The river first rose above
flood stage early Wednesday morning, August 17th. A crest occurred
on Saturday afternoon, August 20th at 29.7 feet, or 7.7 feet above
flood stage.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

SAFETY MESSAGE...

Never drive cars...trucks or sport utility vehicles through flooded
areas. The water may be too deep to allow safe passage. Never allow
children to play in or near flood waters. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather
Radio or your local media for further statements and possible updated
forecasts.

The Flood Warning is cancelled for the Big Muddy River near Murphysboro.
* At 7 PM Thursday the stage was 21.9 feet.
* Flood Stage is 22.0 feet.
* Fell below flood stage at 6:45 PM Thursday.
* Forecast...The river will fall to 19.5 feet by Saturday morning.
* Impact...At 22.0 Feet...Minor flooding occurs affecting mainly low
  lying areas.
