FLOOD STATEMENT

...The flood warning continues for the Mississippi River affecting
   areas in Kentucky...Illinois and Missouri...

   At Cape Girardeau affecting Alexander...  Jackson...Union...
   Cape Girardeau...Perry and Scott Counties.
   At Thebes affecting Alexander and Scott Counties.
   At New Madrid affecting Fulton...Mississippi and
   New Madrid Counties.

.Water levels continue to rise along many portions of the mid
Mississippi River. Major flooding will persist at Cape Girardeau, MO
with Major flood conditions forecast to develop at Thebes, IL during
the overnight hours Wednesday. Minor flood conditions will develop at
New Madrid, MO on Friday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

SAFETY MESSAGE...

Never drive cars...trucks or sport utility vehicles through flooded
areas. The water may be too deep to allow safe passage. Never allow
children to play in or near flood waters. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather
Radio or your local media for further statements and possible updated
forecasts.

The Flood Warning continues for the Mississippi River at Cape Girardeau
* until further notice.
* At 8 PM Tuesday the stage was 42.4 feet.
* Flood Stage is 32.0 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will crest near 43.5 feet Friday morning.
  Additional rises may be possible thereafter.
* Impact...At 43.0 Feet...The flood gate on North Main Street closes.

* At 8 PM Tuesday the stage was 41.4 feet.
* Flood Stage is 33.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Major flooding forecast to
  develop overnight Wednesday.
* Forecast...The river will crest near 42.4 feet Saturday.
  Additional rises may be possible thereafter.

The Flood Warning continues for the Mississippi River at New Madrid.
* from Friday afternoon until further notice.
* At 8 PM Tuesday the stage was 33.7 feet.
* Flood Stage is 34.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage Friday and crest near 34.5 feet
  Sunday. Additional rises are possible thereafter.
* Impact...At 34.0 Feet...Minor flooding occurs affecting mainly
  bottomland and surrounding low lying areas.
