  Mississippi River...at Thebes...affecting Alexander and Scott
                                     Counties.

.The Mississippi River has fallen below flood stage at Thebes. The
flood warning is cancelled.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

SAFETY MESSAGE...

Never drive cars...trucks or sport utility vehicles through flooded
areas. The water may be too deep to allow safe passage. Never allow
children to play in or near flood waters. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather
Radio or your local media for further statements and possible updated
forecasts.

* At  8:00 PM Tuesday the stage was 32.9 feet.
* Flood Stage is 33.0 feet.
* Fell below flood stage at  6:12 PM Tuesday.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to 32.2 feet by Thursday
  morning.
* Impact...At 33.0 Feet...The town of Gale begins to flood.

  the Wabash River at New Harmony
* until Thursday afternoon.
* At  7:30 PM Tuesday the stage was 16.8 feet.
* Flood Stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
  late Thursday morning.
* Impact...At 15.0 Feet...The river overflows low ground on the
  Illinois side.
