FLOOD STATEMENT

...The flood warning continues for the...Mississippi River...at the
following locations...affecting the indicated counties in Illinois...
Missouri ans Kentucky...

  Mississippi River at...

    Cape Girardeau...affecting Alexander...Jackson...Union...Cape
                     Girardeau...Perry and Scott Counties.
    Thebes...........affecting Alexander and Scott Counties.

    New Madrid.......affecting Fulton...Mississippi and New Madrid
                     Counties.

.Heavy rainfall and runoff from upstream have caused river levels to
rise on the Mississippi River. At Cape Girardeau...Major flooding
continues. The River will continue to fall to a stage of 42.2 feet
by Monday morning. At Thebes...Moderate flooding is occurring and
Moderate flooding is forecast. The river will continue rising to near
41.8 feet by after midnight tomorrow. At New Madrid...Minor flooding
is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast. See all of the details
below...

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

SAFETY MESSAGE...

Never drive cars...trucks or sport utility vehicles through flooded
areas. The water may be too deep to allow safe passage. Never allow
children to play in or near flood waters. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather
Radio or your local media for further statements and possible updated
forecasts.

* At  9:30 PM Saturday the stage was 42.7 feet.
* Flood Stage is 32.0 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The River will continue to fall to a stage of 42.2 feet
  by Monday morning.
* Impact...At 43.0 Feet...The flood gate on North Main Street closes.

* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 41.8 feet by
  after midnight tomorrow.  Additional rises may be possible
  thereafter.

* until further notice.
* At  9:00 PM Saturday the stage was 35.7 feet.
* Flood Stage is 34.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 36.5 feet by
  Tuesday morning then begin falling.
* Impact...At 38.0 Feet...Heavy agricultural damage begins.
