FLOOD STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PADUCAH KENTUCKY

...The flood warning continues for the following river in
Illinois...

  Big Muddy River near Murphysboro affecting Jackson County

.Heavy rainfall last week along with back waters from the Mississippi
River have caused river levels to remain elevated along the Big Muddy
River. Minor flooding is occurring and is forecast to continue until
the river falls below flood stage of 22.0 feet by Thursday evening.
Wednesday morning readings came in at 23.5 feet.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

SAFETY MESSAGE...

Never drive cars...trucks or sport utility vehicles through flooded
areas. The water may be too deep to allow safe passage. Never allow
children to play in or near flood waters. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather
Radio or your local media for further statements and possible updated
forecasts.

The Flood Warning continues for
  the Big Muddy River near Murphysboro.
* until late Thursday night.
* At 10:30 AM Wednesday the stage was 23.5 feet.
* Flood Stage is 22.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
  tomorrow evening.
* Impact...At 24.0 Feet...Some minor flooding in S 3rd & Division /
  Plum Street area.
