Fire Weather Planning Forecast for the Heartland
National Weather Service Paducah KY
241 PM CST Fri Feb 23 2018

.DISCUSSION...

Another round of heavy rainfall will work from west to east
across the Heartland tonight and persist through Saturday night.
This will bring excessive, flood producing, rainfall to nearly
all of the region through at least Saturday evening.

In addition to the heavy rain, strong to severe thunderstorms
will be possible during the afternoon and evening hours on
Saturday.

Dry weather will return Sunday through Tuesday, with the next chance
of rain expected on Wednesday and Thursday of next week.

Temperatures will remain seasonable for this time of year, with readings
5 to 15 degrees above normal before cold fronts move through Saturday
night and next Wednesday night.

Minimum daytime relative humidity values will dip into the 30 to 40 percent
range Sunday through Tuesday, with some readings dropping near 20 percent
on Monday over the Mark Twain National Forest areas. Despite these lower
relative humidity values, short term fuels will still remain quite saturated.

Given the saturated ground and the potential for damaging winds on Saturday,
some species of trees, younger trees, and diseased tree stands may topple
near the edges of some forest stands.

Although twenty foot winds, as well as transport winds will increase tonight
through Sunday, mixing heights will remain below 3500 feet through the weekend.
