Fire Weather Planning Forecast for the Heartland
National Weather Service Paducah KY
311 PM CST Wed Feb 21 2018

.DISCUSSION...

Heavy rainfall, capable of producing overland flooding, as well as
worsen river flooding across the Quad State region is expected to
continue off and on through Saturday night. A Flood Watch remains
in effect for the entire Quad State region through Saturday night.

The waves of widespread and locally heavy rainfall are expected
continue tonight, Thursday night into Friday morning, then again
Friday night through Saturday evening. Estimated rainfall amounts
of another three to four and a quarter inches is expected by the
time the rain ends Sunday morning, with the highest rainfall
amounts expected to shift into west Kentucky and southwest
Indiana before the rain comes to an end.

In addition to the rain, periodic showers and thunderstorms can be
expected. At this time, the best chance for any strong thunderstorm
appear to be limited to Saturday afternoon and evening.

Dry weather is will return Sunday and last through at least next
Wednesday.

High temperatures into the middle of next week will remain at or
above normal...remaining in the 50s and 60s. Lows will be in the
upper 30s to lower 50s. Given the expected temperatures, no wintry
precipitation is expected through the period.

Minimum daytime relative humidity values will remain elevated until
the period from Sunday through Tuesday. Values early next week may dip
into the 35 to 45 percent range, but many short term fuels will remain
quite wet.

Given the persistent rainfall, mixing heights will remain at or below
2500 feet with relatively light near surface winds.
