Fire Weather Planning Forecast for the Heartland
National Weather Service Paducah KY
328 PM CST Tue Feb 20 2018

.DISCUSSION...
A western U.S. trough/eastern U.S. ridge pattern will be in
place over the Heartland for the rest of the week, with periodic
disturbances aloft moving through the pattern. This will be
conducive to a high moisture, high rainfall probability forecast.
It will rain over the next 36 hours, period, and some
thunderstorm activity is possible over the southern half of the
area. The most likely lull in the precipitation appears to be
Thursday, but there may be others. On Saturday, just before a cold
front finally ushers in drier air, thunderstorm activity should
ramp up across most of the region. Much drier weather is forecast
for the latter half of the weekend, and for early next week.
