...NWS DAMAGE SURVEY FOR 03/09/17 TORNADO EVENTS...

.Butler County Missouri Tornado

Start time:             714 PM CST
Start location:         2.5 miles southwest of Broseley Missouri

End date:               Mar 9 2017
End time:               718 PM CST
End location:           1.75 miles southeast of Broseley Missouri

SURVEY SUMMARY: A farm machine shed was leveled with numerous other sheds
or small structures damaged or destroyed. Large irrigation piping was
blown hundreds of feet in varying directions. Farm implements were
blown over and 2 camper units were rolled over. At least 4 houses received
minor to moderate damage to roofs, siding and windows. Numerous trees were
uprooted.

SURVEY SUMMARY: Numerous small to large farm machine sheds were leveled.
Several homes in Bernie received minor to moderate damage ranging from
loss of shingles to blown out windows and walls. A small camper unit was
overturned. Numerous trees were uprooted or snapped.

End location:           1.75 miles west of Kewanee or 6.25 miles northwest of
                        New Madrid


SURVEY SUMMARY: A house roof was partially removed. A small section of fencing
was blown over. Several trees were uprooted and underpinning was blown from
underneath a nearby mobile home.

EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale Classifies Tornadoes into the following
categories.

EF0...Weak......65 to 85 mph
EF1...Weak......86 to 110 mph
EF2...Strong....111 to 135 mph
EF3...Strong....136 to 165 mph
