...Heat Advisory remains in effect through today...
Hot and steamy conditions persisted on Tuesday with highs in the
lower to mid 90s and heat indices averaging in the 100 to 105 range.
Warm and humid weather continued overnight with the formation of
patchy fog after midnight. Early this Wednesday morning, it was
mostly clear and calm with temperatures in the lower to mid 70s.
Little relief will be felt over the next few days as a ridge of high
pressure remains anchored over the South. However, the intrusion of
a very weak cold front into the region will bring temperatures down
a few degrees Thursday and Friday--enough that peak afternoon heat
index readings should stay below the century mark in most locations.
This front will also bring a slight chance of showers and storms to
primarily the northern half of the area through Thursday.
A better chance of showers and thunderstorms will arrive over the
weekend with the passage of an upper level system. Even though the
increase in clouds and precipitation should keep temperatures in the
80s, humidity levels will remain quite high.
