The Quad-State region experienced its coldest fall temperatures so
far this morning, as clearing and light winds allowed lows to range
from 15 in Carbondale and Mount Vernon, Illinois to 23 in Owensboro.
Daytime heating pushed temperatures into the mid 30s by 2 PM.
Cooler than normal temperatures continue as a stubborn upper level
trough remains over the eastern United States. High pressure
will scoot eastward, exiting the Ohio River Valley on Saturday. A
couple of upper level disturbances will affect the general area over
the weekend. Light showers are possible Saturday night in southeast
Missouri and southern Illinois, but the main chance of precipitation
will cross over the forecast area Sunday evening and into early
Monday morning. Light snow accumulations are possible. Weekend highs
will reach the mid 30s to lower 40s with lows in the upper teens to
upper 20s. Early in the week, daytime temperatures will cool into
the uppers 20s and lower 30s but are expected to recover into the
40s by the end of the work week.
