...A freeze warning is in effect for portions of Southern Illinois
and Southeast Missouri overnight...
A freeze watch is in effect for all of the Quad State region through
Considerable cloudiness prevailed over the Quad State today. Light
rain or drizzle also fell for much of day. There were even some
lightning strikes and heavier rainshowers along the Kentucky
Tennessee border this afternoon. Sunrise temperatures in the upper
50s and lower 60s had fallen back and ranged from the middle 40s in
the north to the middle 50s in the south. Winds had also shifted to
the northwest and blew at 10 to 15 mph.
As the cold front moves east, any lingering precipitation should
move east of the Quad State region by the early morning hours
Tuesday. Cooler air will continue to filter in and includes a chance
of freezing temperatures and frost across the entire Heartland
Tuesday night. The colder air is expected to filter in quicker
tonight west of a Fairfield Illinois to Poplar Bluff Missouri line.
For this reason, a freeze warning has been issued for those areas.
Even though it will be dry, temperatures will be cooler than normal
with highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s through mid week. After
that, yet another storm system will move toward the region bringing
showers back on Friday. Temperatures will be in the 60s for highs
with 40s for lows from Thursday through the weekend.
