Temperatures were quite cold early this morning, mainly in the mid
teens, with winds west 5 to 10 mph. Wind chill readings were in
the single digits to near 10 degrees. Skies were clear to partly
Another cold day is on tap as high pressure slides south of the
area. Expect clouds to redevelop. Cannot rule out a few flurries
again, with the best chance southern Illinois into southwest
Indiana. Highs will only be in the mid 20s to around 30, with west
to southwest winds 5 to 15 mph.
A gradual warm up is expected through the week. By Thursday night
into Friday, the pattern will become unsettled. Rain chances move
in by Friday morning and last through the weekend. There could be
some light freezing rain briefly Friday morning. Otherwise, just
rain with milder temperatures. The best chance of showers and even
a few thunderstorms should be Saturday night, as a vigorous upper
level system and associated surface low pressure move northeast
across the area.
