WEATHER SUMMARY
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PADUCAH KY
336 AM CDT WED JUL 29 2015

YESTERDAY AFTERNOON STARTED OUT WITH PLENTY OF SUNSHINE FOR MOST OF
THE QUAD STATE REGION. CLOUDS WERE A BIT MORE PLENTIFUL EARLY ON IN
THE EVANSVILLE QUAD STATE REGION AS THEY MOVED SOUTHEASTWARD. BY MID
AFTERNOON...WITH HIGHS IN THE LOWER TO MIDDLE 90S AND VERY HIGH
DEWPOINTS...HEAT INDICES SPIKED ABOVE 110 WEST OF THE MISSISSIPPI
RIVER...AND BETWEEN 105 AND 110 ELSEWHERE. TOWARD THE LATE
AFTERNOON...NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS ERUPTED IN A BAND ACROSS
SOUTHEASTERN ILLINOIS AND KENTUCKY`S PENNYRILE REGION. MUCH OF THIS
ACTIVITY WAS QUITE STRONG...AND CONTAINED TORRENTIAL RAINFALL. BY
EVENING...THE STORMS CONGEALED INTO A LINE AND MOVED SOUTHWESTWARD
INTO THE SOUTHERN PENNYRILE REGION AND EASTERN PARTS OF KENTUCKY`S
PURCHASE AREA...THEN DISSIPATED BY MID EVENING. IN THE EARLY
EVENING...SIGNIFICANT FLOODING OCCURRED NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF
LYON...CALDWELL...AND TRIGG COUNTIES OF KENTUCKY...RESULTING IN
EROSION DAMAGE TO ROADWAYS...AND WATER OVER I-24. TREE DAMAGE WAS
REPORTED IN CALLOWAY COUNTY KENTUCKY. BY MIDNIGHT...A SHIELD OF
CIRRUS CLOUDS FROM ALL THE STORMS COVERED ALL BUT FAR WESTERN PARTS
OF THE QUAD STATE REGION...BUT HAD ALL BUT DISSIPATED BY 300 AM.
TEMPERATURES STILL HOVERED IN THE MIDDLE TO UPPER 70S IN PARTS OF
THE REGION...ESPECIALLY IN THE WESTERN HALF.

ONE MORE DAY OF OPPRESSIVE CONDITIONS IS IN STORE FOR THE QUAD STATE
REGION TODAY...WHERE IT IS NOT RAINING. SCATTERED SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP NEAR A COLD FRONT THAT WILL
SWEEP SOUTHWARD THROUGH THE REGION. PRECIPITATION SHOULD END DURING
THE EVENING. DRIER AIR WILL BEGIN TO FILTER INTO THE REGION
OVERNIGHT ON NORTHERLY WINDS. WELL INTO NEXT WEEK WE WILL BE UNDER A
COOLER AND DRIER NORTHWESTERLY FLOW...WHICH WILL MEAN LITTLE CHANCE
OF RAIN AND MORE COMFORTABLE CONDITIONS.
