...INTERSTATE 24 FROM MILE MARKER 16 TO 65 IS CLOSED...

KENTUCKY DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION CONFIRMS THAT A LARGE
STRETCH OF INTERSTATE 24...FROM MILE MARKER 16 IN REIDLAND...TO
MILE MARKER 65 IN CADIZ...IS CLOSED. THIS IS THE SAME STRETCH OF
THE INTERSTATE THAT SHUT DOWN DURING THE DECEMBER 2004 WINTER
STORM.

DUE TO HEAVY SNOWS IN WESTERN KENTUCKY...WIDESPREAD 6 TO 12 INCH
SNOWFALL AMOUNTS HAVE WREAKED HAVOC TO AREA TRAVEL. ISOLATED 15
INCH AMOUNTS HAVE BEEN REPORTED. DRIFTS UP TO A FOOT AND A HALF
HAVE ALSO BEEN REPORTED. THE RESULT HAS BEEN NEARLY IMPASSABLE
ROAD CONDITIONS.

A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE PENNYRILE REGION
OF WESTERN KENTUCKY THROUGH 6 AM.

THIS IS A DANGEROUS STORM SITUATION AND TRAVEL SHOULD BE AVOIDED
IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.
