...JUNE 2015 NARRATIVE FOR CENTRAL NEBRASKA REGIONAL AIRPORT...

AT CENTRAL NEBRASKA REGIONAL AIRPORT...RAINFALL WAS ABOVE NORMAL AND
TEMPERATURES WERE VERY NEAR-NORMAL DURING JUNE 2015.

RAINFALL: ALTHOUGH THE MONTHLY TOTAL OF 5.67 INCHES WAS 1.37" ABOVE
THE 30-YEAR NORMAL...JUNE 2015 WAS ACTUALLY CONSIDERABLY DRIER THAN
ONE YEAR AGO IN JUNE 2014 (9.65"). HOWEVER...THIS JUNE STILL RANKED
AS THE 19TH-WETTEST JUNE ON RECORD OUT OF 120 DATING TO 1896. IT WAS
TRULY A TALE OF TWO HALVES OF THE MONTH...AS THE MAJORITY OF JUNE
RAIN (4.70") FELL DURING THE FIRST HALF...BEFORE A NOTABLY DRIER
WEATHER PATTERN SETTLED IN FOR THE LATTER HALF. THE WETTEST TWO-DAY
STRETCH OF THE MONTH CAME VERY EARLY ON...AS THE 3RD-4TH COMBINED TO
FEATURE 2.74".

TEMPERATURES: FOR THE MONTH AS A WHOLE...IT WAS A VERY "NORMAL" JUNE
AS THE MEAN MONTHLY TEMPERATURE (BASED ON THE AVERAGE OF DAILY HIGHS
AND LOWS) WAS 71.5 DEGREES...ONLY 0.2 DEGREES ABOVE THE 30-YEAR
NORMAL. THE HOTTEST BRIEF STRETCH OF THE MONTH OCCURRED FROM THE 9TH-
10TH WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES OF 96 AND 95 DEGREES...WHICH WAS THEN
IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY THE COOLEST TWO-DAY STRETCH OF THE MONTH
WITH HIGHS OF ONLY 68 AND 65 DEGREES ON THE 11TH-12TH. OF THE 30
DAYS DURING JUNE...16 FEATURED AN ABOVE NORMAL DAILY MEAN
TEMPERATURE (INCLUDING THE FIRST 10 DAYS IN ROW)...11 DAYS HAD A
BELOW NORMAL DAILY MEAN TEMPERATURE...AND THREE DAYS MATCHED THE
NORMAL DAILY MEAN.

SEVERE WEATHER/FLOODING/HIGH WINDS: OVERALL...THE MOST ACTIVE SEVERE
WEATHER EVENT OF THE MONTH IN THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND WAS ON THE
EVENING OF JUNE 4TH...FEATURING A FEW REPORTS OF HAIL UP TO QUARTER
SIZE ALONG WITH SUBSTANTIAL STREET FLOODING. SEVERAL DAYS LATER ON
THE 10TH...A WEAKENING SEVERE STORM MOVING IN FROM THE SOUTHWEST
PRODUCED ESTIMATED 50-60 MPH GUSTS MAINLY IN AND NEAR THE SOUTH SIDE
OF TOWN. AT THE AIRPORT...THE EVENING OF THE 10TH ALSO FEATURED THE
HIGHEST OFFICIAL WIND GUST OF THE MONTH...47 MPH FROM THE NORTHWEST.
THERE WERE NO CONFIRMED TORNADOES WITHIN HALL COUNTY DURING JUNE
2015.
