OVERVIEW...

THE LATEST DROUGHT MONITOR ISSUED BY THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF
AGRICULTURE ON DEC 1 SHOWS A CONTINUED DROUGHT ACROSS MUCH OF
SOUTHWEST AND SOUTH CENTRAL KANSAS.  AREAS BETWEEN HIGHWAY 27 AND
HIGHWAY 283 ARE IN D2 (SEVERE) DROUGHT. THE REST OF THE AREA IS
EITHER IN D1 (MODERATE) OR D0 (ABNORMALLY DRY) DROUGHT.

CURRENT ENSO SATE...

LA NINA CONDITIONS ARE CONTINUING RIGHT NOW. THIS IS EXPECTED TO
CONTINUE FOR THE NEXT FEW MONTHS. THE OFFICIAL FORECAST FROM THE CPC
CALLS FOR SLIGHTLY ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND SLIGHTLY BELOW
NORMAL PRECIPITATION, PARTICULARLY FOR FAR SOUTHWEST KANSAS.

HYDROLOGIC IMPACTS...

NONE.

FIRE DANGER IMPACTS...

FUELS WILL CONTINUE TO BE SUPPORTIVE FOR ACTIVE FIRE BEHAVIOR.

AGRICULTURAL IMPACTS...

SOIL MOISTURE DEFICITS ARE BELOW NORMAL FOR MUCH OF THE REGION WHERE
VALUES ARE 0.7 INCHES BELOW NORMAL PER CPC THROUGH NOVEMBER 2016.

OUTLOOK...

THE SEASONAL DROUGHT OUTLOOK CALLS FOR CONTINUED DROUGHT ACROSS
WESTERN KANSAS.
