...A FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 530 PM EDT FOR SOUTH
CENTRAL BERKELEY...WESTERN CHARLESTON AND SOUTHEASTERN DORCHESTER
COUNTIES...

AT 429 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR CONTINUED TO
INDICATE AN AREA OF MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN CAPABLE OF PRODUCING
ADDITIONAL FLASH FLOODING. THESE STORMS WERE LOCATED FROM I-26/I-526
INTERCHANGE TO 13 MILES EAST OF KIAWAH ISLAND...MOVING NORTHWEST AT
5 TO 10 MPH. ADDITIONAL SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WERE ALSO
DEVELOPING SOUTHEAST OF FOLLY BEACH AND WILL MOVE ONSHORE OVER THE
NEXT FEW HOURS BRINGING A RENEWED THREAT FOR HEAVY RAIN. THE FLASH
FLOOD WARNING MAY NEED TO BE EXTENDED BEYOND 530 PM.

BETWEEN 4 AND 8 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN IN SOME AREAS THIS
AFTERNOON...WHICH AS RESULTED IN FLASH FLOODING...ESPECIALLY
IN PARTS OF DOWNTOWN CHARLESTON AND FOLLY BEACH WHERE SOME ROADS
REMAIN CLOSED. WATER HAS ALSO EITHER ENTERED OR FLOODED SOME
BUSINESSES IN FOLLY BEACH. SIMILAR CONDITIONS ARE LIKELY OCCURRING
ALONG FOLLY ROAD INTO PORTIONS OF JAMES ISLAND...JOHNS ISLAND AND
WEST ASHLEY. ELSEWHERE...ALTHOUGH THE HEAVIEST RAINS HAVE ENDED...IT
WILL TAKE SOME TIME FOR FLOOD WATERS TO RECEDE.

FLASH FLOODING IS EXPECTED IN AND AROUND DOWNTOWN CHARLESTON...WEST
ASHLEY...DOWNTOWN CHARLESTON...NORTH CHARLESTON...MIDDLETON
PLACE...DELMAR CROSSROADS...JOHNS ISLAND...JAMES ISLAND...FOLLY
BEACH...

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

KEEP CHILDREN AWAY FROM STORM DRAINS...WATER CATCHMENTS...AND
STREAMS. ONLY A FEW INCHES OF MOVING WATER CAN KNOCK A CHILD OFF
THEIR FEET AND SWEEP THEM TO THEIR DEATH.
