THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN COLUMBIA HAS ISSUED AN

* URBAN AND SMALL STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY FOR MINOR FLOODING OF POOR
  DRAINAGE AREAS IN...
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY IN CENTRAL SOUTH CAROLINA...
THIS INCLUDES THE CITY OF CHERAW...

* UNTIL 445 PM EDT

* AT 314 PM EDT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR ESTIMATES AROUND 2
INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN ACROSS PORTIONS OF CHESTERFIELD COUNTY.
THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL HAS BEEN JUST TO THE SOUTH AND WEST OF
CHERAW. ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAINFALL WILL BE POSSIBLE...WHICH WILL
CAUSE LOCALIZED FLOODING OF SMALL STREAMS AND POOR DRAINAGE AREAS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO
AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. FLOOD WATERS ARE USUALLY
DEEPER THAN THEY APPEAR. JUST ONE FOOT OF FLOWING WATER IS POWERFUL
ENOUGH TO SWEEP VEHICLES OFF THE ROAD. WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED
ROADS MAKE THE SMART CHOICE...TURN AROUND...DONT DROWN.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.

REPORT LARGE HAIL...DAMAGING WINDS OR FLOODING TO YOUR COUNTY
SHERIFF...OR USE WWW.FACEBOOK.COM/NWSCOLUMBIA AND EMAIL
CAEWX@NOAA.GOV TO RELAY SEVERE WEATHER REPORTS.
