Flood Statement

...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following rivers in
Indiana...

  East Fork White River...Muscatatuck River...Wabash River...White
  River...

.Lowland flooding is ongoing across portions of central and southern
Indiana.  The Wabash has crested or nearly crested and the White has
crested as far downstream as Spencer.  Elsewhere, flooding should
end by Monday along the East Fork White and by Wednesday on the
Muscatatuck.

Significant flooding is not expected.  Flooding of one to two feet
above flood stage is expected.

Rain is possible on Monday, but should remain light and is not
expected to affect current flooding.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

  The East Fork White River at Seymour.
* until Tuesday morning.
* At  9:45 AM Monday the stage was 12.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
  this evening.
* At 12.0 feet...Significant agricultural lands begins to flood.  High
  water affects some local roads.

  The Muscatatuck River at Wheeler Hollow.
* from this morning to Wednesday evening.
* At  4:00 PM Sunday the stage was 17.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by late this morning and continue
  to rise to near 19.8 feet by this evening.  The river will fall
  below flood stage by Wednesday afternoon.
* At 20.0 feet...High water is noticed along the river.  Flood waters
  in a few backyards.  A few roads are flooded.

The Flood Warning continues for
  The White River at Spencer.
* until Wednesday morning.
* At 10:30 AM Monday the stage was 13.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by this afternoon and continue to
  rise to near 14.2 feet by tomorrow morning.  The river will fall
  below flood stage by tomorrow evening.
* At 14.0 feet...Lowland flooding begins in the Spencer and Gosport
  areas.  The river begins to backup Rattlesnake, Fall, McCormicks,
  Limestone, Big, and Bean Blossom Creeks.  Spencer Public Access
  site begins to flood.

  The White River at Elliston.
* from Tuesday evening to Wednesday morning.
* At  8:00 AM Monday the stage was 17.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by tomorrow evening and continue
  to rise to near 18.0 feet by tomorrow evening.  The river will fall
  below flood stage by tomorrow evening.
* At 18.0 feet...River approaching River Road north of CR 150 W in
  Greene County.  Some low lying agricultural land begins to flood.

  The White River at Edwardsport.
* from this afternoon to Friday afternoon.
* At  7:00 AM Monday the stage was 14.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by late this afternoon and
  continue to rise to near 15.6 feet by tomorrow evening.  The river
  will fall below flood stage by early Friday morning.
* At 16.0 feet...Old Vincennes Road and residential property in this
  area begin to flood.  Flooding of low agricultural fields occurs
  along portions of the river.

The Flood Warning continues for
  The White River at Petersburg.
* from Wednesday afternoon to Saturday morning.
* At 10:30 AM Monday the stage was 12.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by Wednesday afternoon and
  continue to rise to near 16.5 feet by Thursday evening.  The river
  will fall below flood stage by Friday evening.
* At 17.0 feet...Flooding affects low agricultural lands, low oil
  fields and closes Bottoms Rd...Brothers Rd and East Govenors Road
  in Knox County.  In agricultural season...farmers are concerned at
  this stage.

The Flood Warning continues for
  The White River at Hazleton.
* from Wednesday evening to late Saturday night.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is forecast to have a maximum value of 17.0
  feet Friday morning.
* At 17.0 feet...Lowest reading available from the Hazleton Staff
  Gage.  Since the 1930s the White River has moved from the "old
  wellhouse" to several hundred yards from the "old wellhouse".  The
  river returns to the "old wellhouse" around 17 to 17.5 feet.

  The Wabash River at Montezuma.
* until late tonight.
* At 10:45 AM Monday the stage was 14.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
  this afternoon.
* At 14.0 feet...Several hundred acres of bottomlands along the right
  bank from the mouth of Sugar Creek to northern edge of Montezuma
  begin to flood.
