Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia
National Weather Service Columbia SC
321 PM EST Wed Nov 22 2017

.DISCUSSION...High pressure over the Mississippi Valley will
build east and become centered over the Mid-Atlantic coast
by Friday afternoon. Dry and seasonably cool weather is
expected across most of the forecast area.

The nighttime inversion will develop around 6 PM this evening
and persist until around 7 AM. The approaching high pressure
combined with low pressure moving northeast from the Gulf will
tighten the pressure gradient and produce fair dispersion
through much of the night. Low-level mixing combined with the
drier air will prevent any fog from developing.

Surface winds Thursday will be from the northeast at 5 to 10 mph
from mid-morning through mid-afternoon, then diminish late.
Transport winds will also be northeast around 10 mph. Relative
humidities will drop into the 40 to 45 percent range.
